Boiler services! The way it should be done.
Unlike a lot of our larger competitors Thorpes Plumbing and Heating Engineers offers a full boiler service and not just a boiler safety check (as some firms like to call it). When we service your boiler we actually take the cover off, we don't just stick a flue gas analyser in the flue and leave.
Below is an example of how your boiler should be serviced, if you are on a maintenance contract then we'd recommend making sure that the company servicing your boiler follows the following steps.

                                   All this for only   £65

Step 1

Arrive on time: We always arrive on time if for any reason were unable to make it on time you will be called long before were due to arrive.
Check that the boiler is functioning properly: Before we start work we check that your boiler is functioning and all the controls are working.
Dust Sheet: We always use a dust sheet and clean up after ourselves

Step 2

Remove the boiler cover: After removing the cover we check for any leaks and signs of corrosion.
Clean: We'll then clean off the dust and vac out any foreign objects.

Step 3

Remove 2nd cover: We then remove the cover to the combustion chamber.
Remove fan: We then remove the fan, clean it and inspect it to make sure all the fan blade are sound.
Air pressure switch: At this stage we also check the are pressure switch and wiring.

Step 4

Remove the burner: The next step is to remove the burner, clean it out and replace the injectors if necessary.
Clean heat exchanger: We then remove any covers restricting access to the heat exchanger and clean it out with a special brush.
Vac: Always remembering to vac up any debris left after brushing the heat exchanger.

Step 5

Reassemble: We put it all back together again making sure all the seals are in tact and all the screws are tight.
Tests: We then test all the safety devices are functioning, the gas pressure and the output of the boiler.
Flue Analysis: Now we insert the flue gas analyser into the flue to make sure the boiler is burning correctly and producing the correct amount of CO2.
Issue Certificate: We always issue a certificate when we carry out gas work.
